October 15th small group discussion

Jacob Brumfield, David Shipley

Discussion Questions:

1. In Isaiah 40, what was the situation of the Israelites? How does their experience of waiting relate to our own lives today?

2. Jake & David mention several big questions God asks in Isaiah 40. Discuss each one:

  a. Who am I? (as a person)

  b. Who is God?

  c. Who do you compare God to?

  d. What do you think is wrong with the world?

3. How does God respond to our questions and complaints? Why doesn't He always give us the full answer?

4. Discuss the progression in Isaiah 40:31 (soar, run, walk). How might this relate to different stages of our spiritual journey?

5. How does enduring difficult circumstances help us grow? Can you share an example from your own life?

6. In Colossians 1:9-14, what does Paul pray for the believers? How can we apply this to our own lives and prayer for others?

Closing Question:

What would you like for God to make abundantly clear to you about your life right now? (Encourage group members to share if they feel comfortable, and pray for each other's requests.)
